The compass points the way. Between remoted wilderness and heartfelt melancholia lies CHIEFLAND. Formed in 2015, the band mesmerizes its audience with an honest mix of storytelling and atmospheric hardcore. Stories of loss, unsure futures and day-to-day routines take on a vivid form in the band's live performance and engage the listener in a cathartic ritual.
Supporting international acts such as Being As An Ocean, Canvas and No Omega, the band played over 60 shows and toured through parts of Eastern Europe. CHIEFLAND wrote their debut EP "To Part Means To Die A Little“ in a far-off wood cabin, giving weight to nature as a place of reconnection between emotions and human existence. This is also reflected in the band's actions off stage: CHIEFLAND intensively support the non-profit organization Sea Shepherd, which is dedicated to the conservation of marine wildlife. "We're just fed up with all the trash, especially plastic, endangering our environment and harming animals“, the band states. Besides from collecting donations at their shows, CHIEFLAND have also organized their own beach clean-up in October 2018. Further campaings are planned to raise more awareness.
The quartet from Göttingen, Germany released its much-anticipated debut album "Wildflowers“ in February 2019 through Uncle M Music. The dynamic sound of the production was shaped by Sören Kucz (Klanggeist Studio) and Lewis Johns (among many others Funeral For A Friend, Rolo Tomassi, Gnarwolves, Grieved). The songs are topped off by diverse vocals ranging from shouts to gentle spoken words that "convey so many emotions“ (FUZE Magazine). With their distinct blend of melodic hardcore and "The Wave“ influences, CHIEFLAND are ready to leave their mark on the scene.
